Talie Melnyk

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Talie is an award winning, Brooklyn-based actor, screenwriter, playwright and producer. She’s a third generation horror and true crime fan and writes into darker themes. She is passionate about telling stories that center women of all kinds.

Her current project, “CareFull,” is an abortion thriller set in a Brooklyn crisis pregnancy center. Her one act play of “CareFull” is currently part of 2024 Chain Theatre Winter One Act Festival with Talie in the leading role. Beginning as a short screenplay, it placed on Coverfly’s, The Red List and was a finalist in numerous festivals all over the US. She then adapted the short into a feature screenplay and was an award winner with 2022 Renegade Film Festival.

Talie’s short screenplay, “Informal Eviction,” a housing horror set in NYC was a finalist at 2023 Renegade Film Festival, an Official Selection of 2023 Horror Haus Film Festival, 2023 HorrOrigins Film Festival and 2023 Venice Shorts.

Her tv pilot, “Sisters of Saint Cecilia” was a quarterfinalist with 2023 Screencraft Horror and 2023 Filmmatic Horror Screenplay competitions and has also placed on Coverfly’s, The Red List.

Her television pilot script, "The Corinthians" was a Second Rounder with 2020 Austin Film Festival and also a finalist with 2020 WeScreenplay Diverse Voices. Based on the true story of a female serial killer avenging sexual and domestic violence, Talie adapted the story from her solo show, "Maison des Reves" which toured from NYC, across Canada, to London, UK. Nominated for three Planet Connections awards for "Maison des Reves,” Talie was also named in "Best of London Fringe" including best performance by an actress.

Penning the supernatural thriller "The Silo," Talie won Best Sci Fi/Horror/Fantasy Screenplay at 2019 Cordillera International Film Festival in Reno, NV. “The Silo” was a finalist at 2020 Women In Horror Film Festival, 2019 Nashville Film Festival, 2019 Firenze Film Festival and 2019 Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival. Also a semi-finalist with 2020 New York City Horror Film Festival, “The Silo” was an official selection with 2020 A Night of Horror Film Festival in Sydney, Australia and 2019 HorrorHaus Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA.

Talie holds an MFA in Acting from Binghamton University, a BFA in Drama from the University of Calgary and is a graduate of the British American Drama Academy.

A movement specialist and fitness professional, Talie has worked in fitness since 2002. She is dedicated to women's health and wellness at all stages of life.
